About Me

Hi, I'm George

I started The Gut Tailor when I realised my breakfast routine eating "Fruit & Fibre" cereal was far from healthy.  Most cereals like this are ultra-processed, high in sugar and contain many additives. Not only this, but I was hungry by 11am! By eating the same breakfast every day, I was not balancing the nutrition my gut microbiome needed.

I started creating overnight oat recipes with only whole foods and diverse plant ingredients and found they tasted good. I aimed to change the recipe each day to keep things interesting but also to vary my nutrient intake. This gave me the idea of creating the "Daily Diversity Box" which allows you to eat something different for breakfast each day of the week.

When I research gut health, I am constantly amazed at how interconnected the gut is with every part of the body, from the immune system to our brain. I have learnt that each species of microbe plays a role in our gut and the more species we have the better. The best way to boost the number of gut microbe species is to eat a variety of foods. Why? Because each species of microbe consumes different things so by varying your diet, you cater to the largest diversity of species.

Hippocrates summarised how important it is to eat healthily much more eloquently than I can: "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food."
